Parents, 

Change of Plans: 

*Casual for a Cause will take place Wednesday, October 25th for a special “Scare because we Care” event.  

 

News from Administration: 

*EDP statements were emailed last week.  Please remit payment before 10/16/17 to avoid late charges. 

 

*Volunteer needed: Ms. Vaughan would like a couple volunteers to read with her students. This would be from 10:15-10:45 Monday – Thursday. Please call Jill if you would like to help regularly. 

 

*Our annual Halloween Carnival will take place on October 27th from 6-8 pm. Our wonderful Mr. Pack and his “Pack of 8th graders” will plan and run this wonderful event. Enclosed is a flyer/ticket order form. Please return your order form to the office and your pre-purchased tickets will come home with your child. We are accepting any and all Candy/toys/treats to pass out as prizes for the games.  Drop them off in the office at any time. Remember, every $10 worth of candy donations counts toward 1 hour of required service time.  

 

*The Catholic Schools office of the Diocese of Salt Lake City serves the mission of the church by supporting schools in the areas of Faith Formation, Academic Excellence, Leadership and Operational vitality.  We now have a facebook account Utah Catholic Schools which we ask parents to follow/like.   Find us @utahcatholicschools (Please choose the one with the 3 altar servers) This will keep you informed of all the great things our Utah Catholic Schools are doing.   While we are on the subject, please go check out our Saint Olaf Catholic School Facebook Page.  If you have not visited our school page, do this as well! 

 

*Can you believe we have already completed ¼ of our school year? First Quarter ends Thursday, October 19th. There will be end of quarter exams coming up, please make sure your student eats a good breakfast and gets plenty of rest for this last week of the quarter. 

 

*On that note, Fall Break is next week on Friday, October 20, there is NO School / No EDP! 

 

*Please watch for news regarding the End of Quarter Award Presentation.    

 

News from our Athletic Director, Sarah Romney: 

*Calling all 2nd-8th Graders!  Are you interested in playing basketball?  Registration for UCAA has begun (October 2nd) and will close on Monday, October 23rd.  Please register online at http://ucaasports.org.  If you have trouble registering online or have any questions concerning UCAA Basketball, please contact Sarah Romney at sromney@stolafs.org.  Also, if you are interested in coaching or keeping score, please contact Mrs. Romney.   


Home and School News: 

*Home and School Meeting tonight at 7pm in the EDP room. All are welcome and please remember this counts as volunteer time! Also, we will have Saint Olaf T-shirts and water bottles for sale. (Sshhhh… there may be some secret giveaways.) 

 

*We have decided to hold our First Ever Pastries and Parents event.  It will be held Friday, October 13th, 2017 from 7:15am-7:45am.  You can come and eat pastries with your child!  What a great way to start the day!  Please see the attached flyer. 

 

*We have agreed to sell our new, maroon Saint Olaf T-shirts at the school.  Youth sizes are $11.00 and Adult sizes are $12.00.  The following are your purchasing options: 1. Bring Cash to office to purchase.  (Exact amounts please) 2. Write a check to Skaggs Catholic Center (SCC) and submit to office  3. Jennifer Karrick (or other HSA Board Members) will have T-shirts and Water Bottles for sale at most of our after school events.   

 

*Calling all families and friends of veterans currently serving or having served in the past!  Please send in photos (Please put name of student on back of photo, so that we can return them) and information about their service, to include name, rank, service, years served, any combat tours, and/or campaign.  We would like to honor them in our “Hall of Heroes” during the month of November.  We would also like to invite them to our Annual Thanksgiving Feast, November 21st.  (Details to follow).
