Saint Olaf Catholic School

Wednesday News Letter

September 20, 2017

Please read on for important information:

*SEPs begin today.  Schedules went home this past Monday.  Please call Mrs. Moffat if you are not sure of the appointment date/time.  Our teachers are excited to meet with each student together with their parent(s). Please be mindful of your scheduled time.  Many parents have multiple students and multiple SEPs scheduled and if one runs late the entire schedule turns into a giant kerfuffle.

*Tomorrow is the first day for our Mad Science After School Program.  So far we have 10 students signed up. They will leave the registration portal open through this evening if you are still interested.  Please see the enclosed flyer.  The class will be held from 3:30-4:30pm. For their safety, all Mad Science students will be checked into EDP.  If you plan on picking your child up after school, please drop them off in the EDP room by 3:25.

*Do you like Frozen Yogurt?  With sprinkles?  Or how about gummies on top?  Or maybe with a little hot fudge?  Join our Viking Family for a Teacher Takeover!  Yes…your teachers will serve you at Menchies in Centerville, Thursday September 21st (tomorrow) from 6:00-8:00pm.  That’s the Spirit!  We can’t wait to see you there! (20% of the proceeds go directly to Saint Olaf Catholic School).

*Mrs. Dorich’s incredible Scholastic Book Fair will remain open this evening during SEP conferences. So while you are waiting for your conference, you can shop for Christmas gifts, Birthday gifts, “outstanding mid-term” gifts, etc. The book fair will close this Friday at 12:00pm.  Don’t miss out!

*Yard Clean-up:  Our wonderful Home and School Association scheduled an emergency “Yard Clean-up” for this Saturday, September 23rd, 7:00am.  (Yes…that is 7:00 in the morning).  All parents are invited to help out.  Bring shovels, rakes and gloves. This counts toward your service hours.

*Midterms went home yesterday.  If you did not see them, ask your child today.

*Speaking of Midterms, were you surprised about your child’s grades?  Are you not sure how much you owe for EDP? Are you concerned about how many tardies or absences your child may have accrued?  Log in to ParentsWeb.  Please note:  Only a handful of parents have done this.  ParentsWeb is the parental access to Renweb. This is our new attendance, online grade book and administrative system. You were emailed login information a few weeks ago, so please check your email. If you have not logged in yet, please do so.  Nobody likes surprises.

*Our annual Halloween Carnival will take place on Friday, October 27th from 6-8pm. Our wonderful Mr. Pack and his “Pack of 8th graders” will plan and run this wonderful event.   At this time, we are accepting any and all Candy/toys/treats donations to pass out as prizes for the games. Drop them off in the office at any time.

*Individual Picture Day is October 3rd.  Order forms will go home next Wednesday in your Brown Envelope.  Please note:  The children will wear their dress uniforms for their pictures.

*A very kind lady emailed the school the following information:

“I live in Bountiful and have an old upright piano that I’d love to give to a family that wants their children to take piano lessons but doesn’t have the means to acquire a piano. I’m moving and will not take it with me.” If you are interested in this please call the office and we will give you contact information.

*Elevation Catering’s October, November and December menus are available.  Don’t forget to order! Feed the children @
