Winning Principal for a Day, Ms. Love found the experience to be interesting, informative, and exhausting. She was surprised by the fast pace of the day and the constant demands on a principal's time. Decisions need to be both thought through and made in a timely manner. Students, parents, and staff all have needs to be addressed while the school needs to be run. Principal Love was shocked by how many things she must take into account as she observed in classrooms. Were the students' engaged and on task, was the learning environment working, what were the distractions, and so much more. Principal Love also spent time discussing discipline, forgiveness, and accountability. She left the experience with lots of things to consider. It's quite a balancing act each and every day! The students loved free dress and visiting with Principal Love.

3rd Grade may have stolen the judges hearts with their cheer, dance, and Act of Kindness, but Mr. Pack's group gave us a truly unforgettable cheer. We will literally NEVER forget Mr. Pack leaping from his chair as he ran across the great room yelling and chanting school spirit. His normally fairly quiet group echoed in his footsteps and once the roar of the room died down, many were left in speechless awe! So joining 3rd Grade and 8th Grade at Boondocks will be Mr. Pack's advisory who were so excited to learn this news via note paper as they stood outside the main offices! Great job Mr. Pack!!!!

As part of our Booster Fall Fundraiser, students compete for pledges and an ultimate prize of an afternoon at Boondocks. Not only does the class who raised the most funds go, but also the class who wins the Spirit Award which includes 4 categories: coordinating spirit wear, a school spirit cheer or chant, a random act of kindness, and participation in school mass. We are excited to announce that THIRD GRADE wins the Spirit Award! We were impressed with the messages and notes they left on each others t-shirts which were copied by many other classes after they saw the shirts. We were also impressed by their choreographed dance and cheer. Finally, we loved their "act of kindness" where they collected canned goods after hearing the local food banks are running low. Get ready for an afternoon at Boondocks. Congratulations third grade, you definitely have Viking School Spirit!

Our congratulations to Mark on his baptism this past Wednesday during school mass. It was wonderful to share this beautiful and Holy experience as a school and to be able to support Mark's faith journey both before the baptism and after. Mark, we pray that your faith grows deep roots and flourishes your whole life through. We are so glad you are part of the Saint Olaf family!

We just can't ignore the above and beyond that students and families report about Mrs. Cowan year after year. Not only does she inspire a true love of reading, she gets the best authors to visit the kids, remembers the smallest details about her students, and joins them for impactful moments in their lives, even after they have moved on from her classroom. Congratulations to Bentley for inspiring Mr. Evans with a new character, "Bentley" for his Michael Vey book series. Mr. Evans also was excited to meet Lexi and Kenzie as he reported that they look like how he imagined his main character twins. A HUGE thanks to Mrs. Cowan-you change your students' lives!!!!

Read all about this remarkable woman, her family legacy, and a very special gift to Saint Olaf Catholic School. Thank you to the Gourde Family, for your faith and stewardship to our community. Richard and Catherine (Midge) Gourde sent all 11 children to Saint Olaf Catholic School starting on opening day in September 1960 into the early 1990’s.

Wednesday, September 13th, is our first CASUAL FOR A CAUSE. We start the year with The Ladies of Charity. For a donation of $3 per child, students may wear non uniform, school appropriate clothing that day in support of this Cause. As part of the founding faculty and administration for Saint Olaf Catholic School, we intentionally start our 10 Causes with these faithful women who were dedicated and devoted to the families here at Saint Olaf Catholic School as well as to many other sister schools and other worthy needs in Utah. You can still see Sr. Germaine on campus, serving and teaching our children when she stops by. Read on, for more information on the Ladies of Charity of Northern Utah.

Welcome back for another incredible school year! This year, the excitement of our first day was amplified as we entered into our beautiful, gleaming new school building. We can't wait to see the amazing experiences and accomplishments that will unfold within these walls.

We know you wait all year to see what exciting things we have planned for carline! This year we begin with the same route we ended with last year (refer to map). If you missed Back to School Night check your student's backpack for information on Pik My Kid, an app that makes carline a breeze! Please be patient as we work out the kinks of this new system as we hope it speeds the process up and ensures student safety. See you Monday afternoon (feel free to park and escort students into the building in the morning).

Over the years Saint Olaf students have had many classroom pets including the occasional puppy visits as well as hamsters, lizards, geckos and more! We can't wait to introduce Mr. Copernicus to our students and families as he moves into the science lab in middle school. Folks are sure to be "green with envy" when they see this beautiful creature! Welcome Copernicus!!! What other pets might be waiting students? We can't wait to find out. See you all soon!
